The Xmas Story!! Some years ago my late husband went to a works xmas party! After the party he realized he hadn’t bought me a present so he took himself off to the local antiques shops and bought this pushchair (above), though it looks ok in the picture, it was a heap someone had painted it with black hammerite!! At 5pm on a dark Christmas eve he must have looked very suspicious weaving all over the place pushing his bike and this pushchair, because the police stopped him and asked where he was going, “home” he replied, “what have you got there”? “My Wifsh Chrishmas preshent!!” Policeman’s reply “Ohh she will be pleased!!!!” At which point they got back into the police car crying with laughter!!! Bet it was all round the canteen when they got back to the station! While I was pleased that he had tried to get me something for the collection (the thought was there) it really was not my type of thing and by his own admission (when he was sober the next morning) it was not a good buy!! We kept it for a little while then it had to make room for a lovely Victorian wooden pushchair. |
